Leadership Development

Without discipline, life can feel like we are tossed back and forth, with no clear direction. Developing as leaders help us, and those around us, live with clarity, purpose, and health. Leadership is not developed in isolation, but through relationship and community. The order of leadership is important however, and this quote captures it:

"When I was young, I set out to change the world. When I grew a little older, I perceived that this was too ambitious so I set out to change my state. This, too, I reallized as I greaw older was too ambitious, so I set out to change my town. When I realized I could not even do this, I tried to change my family. Now as an old man, I know that I should have started by changing myself if I had started with myself, maybe then I would have succeeded in changing my family, the town, or even the state-and who knows, maybe even the world!" - an old Hasidic rabbi (Quoted in Dr. Rolanald W. Richarson, Family Ties that Bind, 35)
